Over the past two weeks, the Rotary Club of Morningside collected almost R42 000-worth of food donations through the Pick n Pay n Drop drive. The Club would like to express its appreciation for the wonderful support of the Morningside Shopping Centre and of Pick n Pay.

After the success of the 2020 Sechaba Support Project (SSP), in which the Rotary Club of Morningside raised over R220 000, it was decided by the Club to continue supporting this project. Monetary donations collected under SSP helped Abram Kgari continue his feeding scheme in Diepsloot. However, as food insecurity remains a daily reality for the residents of Diepsloot, the Pick n Pay n Drop donations will once again be distributed to the Diepsloot community at Abram’s Oratile ECD centre.

The donations collected through the Pick n Pay n Drop campaign include pre-packaged boxes of staples as well as loose items of non-perishable food. Monetary donations will be used to purchase bulk foodstuffs.

The Rotary Club of Morningside (www.rotarymorningside.org.za) would like to thank the Morningside community for their generosity. We will continue to support Abram’s initiative through the Sechaba Support Project (https://sechabasupportproject.org) and plan to organise a further drive later on in the year at the same location.
